Ancient Bambara mask (Mali), representing a face with simplified features giving off a strong presence (which could make one think of the masks of Nepal). This mask had to be entirely covered with cowries, there remains now on the whole mask a thick layer of natural wax that allowed to fix the shells. Beautiful hairstyle in semi-circle. Visible lacks on the perimeter of the mask, due to woodborers. Height: 39 cm. Former Parisian collection.
