Ancient and rare Bamana puppet (Mali). It represents a character (bust) whose arms are articulated. The expressive face is serene, its forehead is adorned with a repelled brass tiara under which remains of red fabric still appear... The eyes are also metallic, the nose and ears are pierced, scarifications on the temples.... The puppets found in this region are generally painted and more recent, hence the rarity of this object with a dark brown patina and use. Cotton fabric of local manufacture.  Height: 46 cm
