Old Baule or Guro seat (Ivory Coast) which after the death of its owner became an altar receiving ritual offerings. It is carved on one side with a beautiful stylized buffalo head. The other side is carved with openwork triangular motifs. A handle was used to carry the object. The seat has been hollowed out to make it lighter and more stable. Metallic staples and some feathers on the seat, deep black patina, missing parts and wear visible on the pictures. Height: 24 cm, length: 42 cm. Former Parisian collection.
