Interesting and rare Dan statuette (Ivory Coast), probably an altar object. It represents the bust of a character, whose base ends in a point. At the top of the head a cowrie shell has been sunken, the eyes and the mouth are highlighted with rust colored pigments. The mouth has a pair of teeth as is sometimes found on masks of the same ethnic group. Important sacrificial patina on the whole object, restorations on the back of the statuette.
