Ancient Kongo statuette (DR of Congo) representing a standing character with arms along the body. Very nice treatment of the head decorated with a small hat, the features of the face are delicately sculpted (the half-open mouth reveals the teeth cut in point as it was the custom). The eyes are inlaid with glass or mirror fixed by a vegetable glue. The difference in the treatment of the body and the patina can be explained by the fact that the statuette had to be dressed in cloth. Cracks on both legs. Wood with a beautiful patina of use. Old collection from the south of France. Height : 16 cm
