Antique Pende mask (Congo) of the "Muyombo" type. These masks were worn like a cap, on top of the head and not on the face. Beautiful work of sculpture: perfect symmetry (eyebrow arches, frontal scarification), the profile in particular shows the dynamism and a beautiful reading of the object... Light wood with old patina of use, raffia cap. The inside of the mask bears traces of use. Height : 35 cm. Former Parisian collection. Sold with base.
