Old and rare Yoruba ritual seat (Nigeria). It is carved of a figure with one knee on the ground holding a rifle in his right hand and the tail of a pangolin in his left hand, surmounted by a curved seat. The face wears the usual Yoruba scarifications enhanced with blue pigment in places and a geometric headdress. Very realistic treatment of this scene (details of the rifle, scales of the pangolin ...) Restorations and cracks visible in the photos (in particular on the column supporting the seat), object of a very good age, which was taken out and worn during important ceremonies. Wood with patina of use, height: 64 cm. From old french collection.
